AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj on 23 October 2025 accused the BJP of hypocrisy, claiming that Water Minister Parvesh Verma is now utilizing the same foam-removal substance that he had previously labeled as toxic during the previous government’s tenure.
Speaking at a media briefing, Bharadwaj expressed frustration over what he called the ruling party’s continuous falsehoods. “We’ve pointed out so many untruths from the BJP administration to citizens. We got tired of uncovering their misinformation, got exhausted from highlighting it, but they continue fabricating new stories. The press also needs to play an active role in bringing these facts to light,” he stated.
The AAP spokesperson explained that back in 2022, the Delhi Jal Board had officially floated a tender to procure a foam-reducing agent for treating the Yamuna before the Chhath festival, allowing devotees to perform their rituals without obstruction from river foam.
“During the application process of this substance, the then-parliamentarian Parvesh showed up at the location and misbehaved with water board personnel,” Bharadwaj mentioned.
Presenting video evidence to journalists, he highlighted how CM Rekha Gupta’s administration is now sidestepping the reality that they’re employing the identical substance that the BJP had previously halted during Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership—allegedly to ensure the foam stayed in the river, preventing Purvanchali communities from celebrating Chhath Puja properly.
AAP legislator Sanjeev Jha supported these allegations, questioning the contradiction in the BJP’s stance. “The Delhi government is now run by BJP, with Parvesh Verma heading the water department. The identical foam-eliminating substance is being added to the Yamuna today. This raises an obvious question—if this material was harmful back then, why deploy it now? And if it wasn’t dangerous previously, why spread false information? The reality is evident—the BJP’s inconsistent positions and their politicians’ misleading campaigns have been fully revealed to the public.”
In a social media post on 22 October 2025, Jha wrote, “This substance is a foam-reduction concentrate used for clearing river foam. Currently, BJP governs Delhi with Parvesh Verma as Water Minister—the very same person who, three years back, staged a theatrical protest at Yamuna riverbanks before Chhath Puja regarding this foam-reducing concentrate, declaring that toxic materials were being introduced into the waterway.”
A ground reporter from Peek TV visited the site and exposed how the people of Delhi are being misled by the government.
